We are Media Savvy!
Developing Strong Voices in a Loud World
We Are Media Savvy proudly celebrates 20 years of empowering voices, fostering creativity, and shaping the future of media arts education!
Celebrating Twenty Years of We Are Media Savvy
Two decades ago, the vision for We Are Media Savvy was born out of a deep desire to empower voices and cultivate creativity through media arts education. Since its inception, the program has been a guiding force in shaping confident storytellers, informed thinkers, and artistic innovators. From classrooms to libraries, community festivals to international workshops, this initiative has brought media literacy and artistic expression to thousands of students, families, and creative minds in the District of Columbia. Signature workshops such as Animation Unplugged and Control the Message, Control the World have engaged participants across generations, inspiring them to craft narratives that amplify their perspectives and shape the conversations that define our world.

Media Savvy Workshops leverage videography skills to challenge the next generation of thoughtful, informed and discerning citizens. Through hands-on activities, our programs invite students of all ages to become “media savvy” in more than one way: they produce their own video and animation work and develop the critical-thinking skills required to navigate the globalized, 24-hour media landscape of the twenty-first century.
