Fieldwork at Bladensburg Port is a free workshop open to experienced artists living or working in the Port Towns (Bladensburg, Colmar Manor, and Cottage City)or Gateway Arts Community (Brentwood, North Brentwood, Hyattsville, Mt
Rainier) Areas. It provides artists with unique opportunity to develop
site-specific work while calling attention to an under-used community resource. The workshop itself is designed to help artists in dance, theater, text, visual art, and music give and
receive feedback on their work as it develops.
Fieldwork at Bladensburg Port (a site-specific workshop for mixed disciplines)
This peer process (established in 1986 by a group of New York City artists) enables artists to find out how work affects an audience, prior to a public showing, and heightens the
ability to perceive, assimilate, and discuss artwork.
Meeting at the port once a week for ten weeks, under the facilitation of The Field/DC Director, Laura
Schandelmeier, the workshop culminates in a performance/exhibition of the pieces developed through the process.
Workshop - Wednesdays 9:30-11:30 a.m. July 19-September 13, 2000
